City officials received confirmation Monday that Caltrans will host a community meeting on May 13 regarding its Ortega-widening plan.
Caltrans plans to widen a stretch of Ortega State Highway 74 from two to four lanes from Calle Entradero in San Juan Capistrano to the City/Orange County Line. City officials last year pushed for Caltrans to produce a full environmental impact report on the project - amidst City concerns and those of several residents worried about its impacts to the scenic highway.
The May 13 meeting will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the conference room at the City's Community Center, 25925 Camino del Avion.
Caltrans will give a presentation of the proposed project; will host a working session to receive community input; and will discuss plans and goals of future meetings.
