- Maximize the defensible space around your home! Clear 100’ from all buildings, even your neighbors.
- Stack firewood away from your house
- Remove tree branches that are within 10 feet of your house
- Remove all dead branches from trees and all dead trees from your property
- Make sure your roof is clear of leaves
- Keep your lot mowed
- Replace above-ground PVC (pressured) water pipes and sprinklers with metal ones
- Lock your guns and ammunition in a gun safe.
- Change the batteries on your smoke detectors annually
- Clearly mark your street address & lot number at the road
