PREPARE NOW!

• Maximize the defensible space around your home!  Clear 100’ from all buildings, even your neighbors.
• Stack firewood away from your house
• Remove tree branches that are within 10 feet of your house
• Remove all dead branches from trees and all dead trees from your property
• Make sure your roof is clear of leaves
• Keep your lot mowed
• Replace above-ground PVC (pressured) water pipes and sprinklers with metal ones
• Lock your guns and ammunition in a gun safe.
• Change the batteries on your smoke detectors annually
• Clearly mark your street address & lot number at the road

Keep a fire extinguisher in each of the following rooms:   Kitchen, laundry room, Garage, Barn

To use an extinguisher, remember “PASS”
  Pull the pin
  Aim the nozzle
  Squeeze the trigger
  Sweep from side to side at the base of the fire

for your home and vehicles:

Portable radio
First Aid Kit

Batteries
Duct tape
Knee pads
Work Gloves
Goggles

Trash bags – large and small
Zip ties

Extra clothes
